Ecoroses introduces 7 new rose varieties!

Right before Valentine, Ecoroses introduces seven new rose varieties. Six of these new large-flowered, romantic beauties now shine on the FloraPodium. We would like to introduce you to: Sandy, Pomarosa, Queen or Pearl, Corinna, Lorainne, Opala and Hard Rock (not on the Podium). Unfortunately these roses still have a limited availability.

Ecoroses is a company in Ecuador that specializes in the cultivation of quality roses. The conditions for the roses are optimal in the area where they are grown. The Ecuadorian roses are well known for their beautifully big and full flower buds, a characteristic that can also be found in these new varieties.

Because Ecuadorian roses are grown at high altitudes, the flower grows more slowly. This is exactly the reason why these roses get these nice, big flower buds. Because the air is thin and therefore the flowers get less oxygen, it takes longer before the roses are ripe. In the Netherlands it takes six to eight weeks before a rose is ripe, in Ecuador it takes three to four weeks longer.

The quality of the rose however is also influenced by the light. Because the nurseries are located around the equator, the light conditions remain the same throughout the year; approximately 12 hours light and 12 hours dark per day. As a result, the same quality and production can be guaranteed year-round.

Yet Ecuador has to deal with another problem that affects the quality of the roses; the high humidity. Due to the large temperature differences between day and night, the moisture affects the rose in the night. In order to keep the air humidity stable, Ecoroses heats the greenhouses at night, so the air is drier and the moisture disappears. This is how Botritus is prevented.

Finally, the soil conditions also play a part in the quality of the rose. Due to the fertile volcanic soil, the quality of the soil of the Machachi region (the region where Ecoroses is located) is optimal. This area therefore has all the ingredients and the right conditions for growing good, heavy quality roses.
