Scabiosa SCOOP®

A few years ago, a breeder called Danziger, brought the 'SCOOP®’series of the Scabiosa into the market. This novelty did a complete makeover for this veteran product.

The Scabiosa Atropurpurea ‘SCOOP®’ series comes from the Israeli breeder, Danziger. In comparison to the well-known Scabiosa caucasica the SCOOP® series has a much wider color pallet and the flowers are larger, fuller and more ball shaped. Danziger has not only focused on the versatility of the colors, the shape and the size, but also on other characteristic such as stem length, stem strength and longer vase life. The varieties of the 'Focal SCOOP™ are characterized by a larger head size (8-10 cm) and the new Scabiosa BON BON SCOOP™ has a beautiful full round-shaped heart.

TRENDY - COLORFUL - VERSATILE
The Scabiosa SCOOP® varieties are propagated by means of cuttings as appose to the older types of Scabiosa, which were produced by seeds. The plants of this series are annual. They produce a lot of flowers during one year, but new plants have to be bought by the grower every year. The plants are strong, less susceptible to disease and have very high yield.

The SCOOP® is cut quite raw to achieve the best vase life. But once in the vase, the petals unfold piece by piece and the bead-like appearance evolves into a true butterfly. The SCOOP® series has strong stems and a vastly improved vase life. In addition, they are available in many different colors (even two-tone). Due to these properties, the Scabiosa has grown enormously in popularity in recent years. Florists greatly appreciate this cheerful flower for the many different ways they can use the Scabiosa. It can be used raw, but also with all petals wide open.
Due to its lovely, soft appearance, the flower is very suitable for use in bridal work. The long, sturdy, sometimes twisting stems look amazing in a beautiful summer field bouquet. But it’s also a fantastic flower to decorate your home.
