Exclusive Christmas product: Capsicum Xmas

Rijk de Jongh is a seasonal grower with unique products with top quality. His nursery is located in the village of Tuil in Gelderland. One of the products of Rijk de Jongh is the Capsicum Xmas. A very exclusive product that we think should not be missing in the range of florists in the higher segment. Besides the enormously high ornamental value of the product, the Xmas also has a very good vase life. The branches can stay in the vase for at least 3 weeks.

The goal of our nursery is to deliver a unique selection of flower varieties. We place strict demands on our cultivation process to guarantee high quality to wholesalers and florists. Surprising the consumer with the beauty of seasonal flowers; that is what we work for daily in our nursery and with the greatest pleasure. But we are also always looking for new exclusive flower varieties with which florists can distinguish themselves.

The Capsicum Xmas comes from the Capsicum Annuum group, which the Spaniards brought from South America to Europe, after which these fruits became popular in different countries.

In June the Capsicum goes into the greenhouse as a small plant. The first branches can be cut around November 1st. Around 20 December the last branches will leave the greenhouse. In the first period, the upper fruits of the pepper remain green. In December, all the fruits on the branch are red, because the flowers are then ripened.

The Xmas can best be stored in cold storage at the florist / exporter. Before the stems go in the vase, it is important that they are re-cut.
