Valentijn

Valentine's Day is on February 14th. A day that is celebrated worldwide and that revolves around love; a day where lovers surprise each other with the most beautiful flowers.
Flowers have been used for centuries to express love. For the romantics among us, roses are still the most popular Valentine’s Day’s flowers. The rose, and in particular the red rose, is a symbol of love. The traditional red color is generally still very popular, although we think there are many beautiful other types and colors that can be just as romantic.

Interplant Roses

Interplant Roses is the market leader in spray rose breeding, but they also breed very beautiful single-flowered roses. Manon van 't Klooster (product promoter) brought us four beautiful varieties that she selected especially for Valentine's Day.

Explorer

Explorer is a large-flowered red single-flowered rose with a velvety touch. This rose grows very nicely in Ecuador (South America) and opens beautifully. Very suitable for the Valentine's Day for the traditional shopper. Explorer is readily available in different lengths.

Pompeii

This romantic rose is a new variety and only available exclusively. The color of Pompeii is special. At first sight it looks like a white rose with a greenish glow on the petals. Manon says that most roses with such a green edge in the leaf have a long vase life. For Pompeii that is certainly true; it has a very good vase life. In the heart the rose turns to old pink, a beautiful romantic vintage color. For those who want something special for Valentine's Day, this magical rose is highly recommended.

Red Trendsetter (spray rose)

The beautiful deep red colored Red Trendsetter is also new and exclusively available. A beautiful strong spray rose with large, full flowers. In addition, this flower is shaped like a garden rose and that is a really unique feature in red colored spray roses.

Nikita

Nikita is a very sweet soft pink spray rose; a color that is always suitable for Valentine’s Day. Nikita is a simple but reliable rose, ideal for florists to use for use in romantic bouquets.

Rosetest

Every year, a few weeks before the Valentine's period, Barendsen have a number of red rose varieties tested for their customers, and this year the test was hosted by the FloraPodium.  Experienced rose buyer Rob selected a number of well-known varieties of red roses from the most important growers from Ecuador, Kenya and the Netherlands in order to get a good impression of the quality of these roses. In general we can say that the quality is much better than 5 or 6 years ago at this time of year.
As a company Barendsen can therefore vouch for the quality of the roses that are being sold to their customers. IMPORTANT: the test clearly showed that the roses with cut flower food lasted longer and opened better. So we highly recommend using flower food as much as possible.
