    Tulips

    van CoasTulip

CoasTulips has already appeared a number of times on the FloraPodium in recent years. Unfortunately, we are not able to visit growers because of Covid restrictions. But if we cannot access the product, we will bring the product to us. This week, the FloraPodium has a wonderful range of CoasTulips.

    CoasTulip

CoasTulip companies, Gebr. de Groot & zn, C.P Zoontjes, Jac de Winter & zn, Dolf de Wit & zn and Fa. A&L Duin, all grow a unique assortment, so that the assortments of the five members do not compete with each other. This way they can also offer a versatile range for the customer. They are all professionals with small to medium-sized companies where many operations are still performed manually. By using their own paper packaging with a contemporary logo, they create recognisability in the market.

    Growing in open soil

All tulip bulbs are planted by hand. It is important that the bulbs go upright in the sand to ensure the best possible growth process. By growing in the open soil you mimic the actual process. The tulip has time to grow slowly, giving it a more intense color and a heavier quality. All five companies heat to a temperature of 14 degrees. They all use heavier and thicker bulbs for planting, so the starting material is also of better quality.

It takes at least three weeks for the tulip to take root and become stuck in the sand. The advantage of sandy soil is that the roots can root deep, up to 50cm deep. Because of that deep rooting, the plant can take its course and the tulip can receive enough power.

The bulb must have had a cold period of 9 degrees Celsius or colder. This could have been outside in the ground or by means of cold storage. After the cold period, the roller greenhouse can be pulled over the crop. In the greenhouse the temperature is heated to 14 degrees Celsius, so that the tulips can be drawn into bloom.

    Steaming

All the growers steam the soil before planting the bulbs, whereby the soil is heated to 90 degrees so that all diseases and fungi are removed. This is the ideal basis for a good growth process.

    Sartre

Of all these beautiful varieties, the growers were eager to tell a bit more about Tulip Sartre, which is named after the famous French philosopher. Philosophy means love for wisdom and that is reflected in this sleek and special tulip. This tulip has a beautiful large bud, carrying the color red, which is seen as a very emotional intense color. Red represents desire, passion and love. In short: a double tulip with twice the love. Wonderful for Valentine's Day, Women's Day and for anyone who wants to let love blossom in the house.
